Hollow
Design and create a slip cast ceramic homeware piece that is in line with the brand 'Heals' pieces.
A slip cast vase with MDF and laquered flower arrangement add ons to give direction and shape to a bouquet.

In the Making
I drew and experimented with plaster casting at the start, researching slip casting and what ceramics identified with me.
I decided on a vase with assortment add ons to give direction to a flower bouquet.

The process
For the vase, I had to first make the shape in a solid material to then cast it so I created it on the lathe and lacquered and cast it in plaster which I then filled with the slip and dip glazed in later in the process.
For the add on's, I CNCed them out of MDF and then lacquered them for a waterproof finish.

Details and Joinery
The vase is intended for a small bouquet and is the right length to have the flower buds and a small bit of stem peek above the top.
The add ons are sandwiched by the flower stems on to the vase top where it sits above it.

The inside has been glazed and the outside has been dip glazed to leave a cermaic seal at the bottom.
The add ons come in 3 different shapes to give more control and variation to the user.
